A flying start to Footloose

A great audition this morning with 65 talented, energetic and enthusiastic youngsters! After a very difficult choice by the production team we took 16 chorus members and 16 dancers. Some are new to RLOS and some have been Munchkins, workhouse orphans or Bugsy gangsters - a warm welcome to you all!

Thanks also to the production team and RLOS volunteers for making everything run so smoothly.

We now have the foundations of another really great show!

A Brilliant Show!

A fantastic show last night!

Well done everybody!

Monday 19 October 2009

We have a show!

A brilliant dress rehearsal tonight - it looks and sounds fantastic!

Heartfelt thanks to Ben, Cory, Hannah, Marisa, all the cast, the techies, BHT staff and everyone who has worked so hard to make this happen.

Once again we have a show we can truly be proud of!

Saturday 17 October 2009

The set is in the BHT!

A big thank you to everyone who helped unload the set last night! Thanks too to Glyn who has all our lighting rig in place.

The plant looks fantastic and we can't wait to see its first meal.

A busy day today putting it all together - the jigsaw without the picture on the box - followed by the band call, tech run and lighting plotting session.

A great show!

Really good rehearsals this week! The show looks and sounds wonderful, and with Sunday and two evenings next week plus the rehearsals in the theatre it's going to be really polished.

Back stage, we have the plant operators and the last remaining crew (follow spot operators) in place, and we're getting hold of the last remaining props (dentist's drills).

keep selling the tickets - it would be a tragedy if a show this good isn't full every night!

The dark side of the bright lights

Do any RLOS members fancy crossing over to the other side of the bright lights to help us back stage on Little Shop?

You'll have lots of fun, and get to see how shows work from the other side. Cast who've done it tell us it helps them as performers to see the dark arts in action.

Please contact Bob or anyone on the committee if you'd like to help.

Hanging on the phone

Can anybody help us with some old fashioned desk phones (NOT cordless!)?

Ben and Cory have devised some brilliant business with a tangle of phones in Little Shop, but some real phones (they don't have to work!) would help a lot in rehearsal.

Footloose in Swansea

Bob and Al from the RLOS committee went to see Footloose on Saturday at the Grand Theatre in Swansea, performed by the Sir Harry Secombe Trust, which used the set we have for the Churchill.

It's a great show, with 18 musical numbers, lots of singing and dancing, and parts for all ages. It moves at a cracking pace, helped by a simple but effective set which will work well at the Churchill.

If you want to know more, get the soundtrack but DON'T watch the film, which has very little music and is completely different!

RLOS will be staging the amateur premiere at the Churchill in the week starting April 12th 2010. Watch this space!
